    • Dibetou

      Lovoa Klaineana

      This wood is yellowish or grey brown and has black depots in its pores. Also called Bibolo.

      Origin: Cameroon and Gabon

      Possible end-uses: sliced veneers, cabinet-making, furniture, interior joinery

      Marketing: Sawnwood

      Physical and mechanical properties: the wood is soft, moderately nervous, quite fissile and with low shock-resistance.

    • Doussie

      Afzelia bipiendensis, Afzelia pachyloba

      After sawing, the wood is first light brown and then darkens. The general aspect is rather uniform with quite coarse texture.

      Origin: Cameroon

      Possible end-uses: flooring, furniture, cabinet-making, exterior and interior joinery

      Marketing: Sawnwood

      Physical and mechanical properties: the wood is hard to very hard, moderately nervous, quite fissile and with low shock-resistance. Very low shrinkage, very good dimensional stability

      Piptadeniastrum africanum

      Light brown wood going towards dark brown on exposure, with a particular odour when green.

      Origin: Cameroon

      Possible end-uses: furniture, flooring, veneers, interior joinery

      Marketing: Logs

      Physical and mechanical properties: Semi-hard wood, nervous, quite fissile and elastic

    • Frake

      Terminalia Superba

      The wood is rather uniformly straw yellow with slight interlocked grain Also called Limba.

      Origin: Cameroon

      Possible end-uses: plywood, sliced veneers, moulding, interior and exterior joinery

      Marketing: Logs and sawnwood

      Physical and mechanical properties: Soft to semi-hard wood, moderately nervous. Fissile, low shock-resistance

    • Iatandza

      Albizia ferruginea

      Perfect wood (Duramen) with a brow yellow to dark reddish brown colour, with golden glints. Slightly interlocked grain.


      Origin: Cameroon

      Possible end-uses: Light carpentry, interior joinery, veneers and plywood, stairs

      Marketing: Sawnwood

      Physical and mechanical properties: Good stability, tends to split when nailing

    • Iroko

      Chlorophora excelsa

      The wood is yellowish brown with some darker parts. The wood strongly darkens over time, giving it a rich bronze shade. Medium texture, occurrence of marked interlocked grain.


       

      Origin: Gabon, Cameroun and Congo

      Possible end-uses: cabinet-making, shipbuilding, flooring, decking

    • Kosipo

      Entandrophragma Candollei

      The wood is red brown with purplish shades and darkens when exposed to light. The texture is coarse with slight interlocked grain. The aspect resembles Sapele.

      Origin: Cameroon

      Possible end-uses: plywood, interior and exterior joinery, sliced and peeled veneers, furniture

      Marketing: Sawnwood

      Physical and mechanical properties: Fine texture, straight grain as a rule, semi-hard, moderately nervous, rather elastic

    • Moabi

      Baillonella Toxisperma

      Pinkish red brown wood, which darkens rapidly. Straight grain as a rule and fine texture.

      Origin: Cameroon

      Possible end-uses: exterior and interior joinery, stairs, furniture, exterior panelling

      Physical and mechanical properties: Hard and naturally durable wood

      Distemonanthus Benthamianus

      Lemon yellow to yellowish brown wood with clearly demarcated sapwood, fine texture and slightly interlocked grain.

      Origin: Gabon and Cameroon

      Possible end-uses: interior and exterior joinery, stairs, flooring, cabinet-making

      Marketing: Sawnwood

      Physical and mechanical properties: the wood is semi-hard, moderately nervous and elastic with excellent shock-resistance.
