Tessmannia africana
Differentiated (not perfect) wood: yellowish white and rather thick sapwood The colour of heartwood (duramen) is reddish white and quite dark. Abundant silver grain; numerous and fine vascular traces embedded in the wood, frequently containing shiny black resin. Occurrence of slight interlocked grain.
Origin: Cameroon
Possible end-uses: Heavy carpentry, shipbuilding, hydraulic works such as the construction of mooring systems and locks, etc.
Marketing: Logs
Physical and mechanical properties: Excellent mechanical strength properties. The wood is moderately fissile

Dark red to purple brown wood. Intermediary zone between the sapwood and perfect wood (duramen). White deposits in the pores.

Possible end-uses: Hydraulic works (in freshwater and in a maritime environment), sleepers, bridges, heavy carpentry, wood frame construction

Physical and mechanical properties: Very heavy and hard wood with excellent resistance

Yellow brown heartwood going towards dark brown after exposure. Light and well-defined sapwood; fine texture.
Origin: Cameroon
Possible end-uses: Flooring, veneer, furniture, joinery
Marketing: Sawnwood – CITES species
Physical and mechanical properties: the wood is hard and elastic with excellent shock-resistance. The texture is fine and the wood is naturally durable

Perfect wood (Duramen) with a brow yellow to dark reddish brown colour, with golden glints. Slightly interlocked grain.

Physical and mechanical properties: Good stability, tends to split when nailing
